FrutaGift is a free community farm stand, organized weekly by Canticle Farm in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland, CA. Volunteers go to a local farmers market after closing time to help farmers clean and pack up. Farmers return the generous act by donating their unsold organic fruits and vegetables to bring to the people of Fruitvale. Using this produce, the volunteer cook a meal that they bring the following week to the farmer market workers. A circle is created; everyone benefits.
